The final conference of the project ICMED took place on 26th February 2020 in Oran (Algeria) hosted by the University USTO at the Plaza Hotel.

It was a-1-day interactive event bringing together UNIMED associated universities and everyone interested in fostering the Euro-Mediterranean dimension of university cooperation.

Following the recent events in the Mediterranean region, it is of crucial importance to enhance the role of Universities in strengthening the Mediterranean dialogue and cooperation to reach our shared objectives of stability and prosperity.

This initiative gathered mostly of the UNIMED Universities for Maghreb and several representatives of Algerian Universities and local authorities. Furthermore, some professionals of International Organizations and European Institutions attended the event.

In the event around 150 attendees took part from Europe and Maghreb.

The final conference offered a unique floor for Universities and general stakeholders to meet and exchange best practices, experiences and comments on mobility programmes. This also represented an opportunity to network with representatives of both international institutions and organisations, as well as with UNIMED members and the ICMED consortium.

The day mainly focused on the new challenges and opportunities for the Euro-Med cooperation, perspectives for the higher education world in the near future, the role of higher education for employability and entrepreneurship and the new opportunities for academic cooperation in the region.
